PTJ Shop has a reputation for machining quality parts from PA6 & 66. We can machine intricate parts on our CNC Swiss machines and CNC turning centers. The chemical and physical properties of polyamide-6 are similar to those of nylon 66. However, it has a low melting point and a wide process temperature range. Its impact resistance and solubility resistance are better than nylon 66 plastic, but it is also more hygroscopic. Because many of the quality characteristics of plastic parts are affected by hygroscopicity, this should be taken into account when using nylon 6 design products. In order to improve the mechanical properties of nylon 6, various modifiers are often added. Glass is the most common additive, and sometimes synthetic rubbers such as EPDM and SBR are added to improve impact resistance. PA 6 has a machining cost factor of 0.6 when compared to steel 12L14.
